St Giles is an all age special school for learners with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and a wide range of learning difficulties, PMLD, SLD and MLD aged from 2 years to 19 years of age.

We are seeking:

To appoint a highly motivated, creative and enthusiastic ASD class teacher to join our school team, working with pupils across the school.  We value creativity and celebrate everyone’s efforts to participate and contribute to the best of their ability.  Learning is given a high status at the school as we recognise how important it is to engage learners and promoting well-being.  We require an ASD class teacher who can support our ASD learners to engage in positive and effective learning experiences.

The successful candidate will:

  •  Be able to work as a member of a large inter-disciplinary team alongside medical and therapy staff.
  •  Have a positive attitude about pupils’ abilities.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. If you are appointed, you will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. Online Searches following shortlisting:

In line with the statutory guidance document Keeping Children Safe in Education (2023), the school will conduct online searches after the shortlisting process for any candidates who accept an invitation to interview. The purpose of the online search is to uncover any information that may suggest the candidate is:

  • a potential safeguarding risk;
  • their appointment may damage the reputation of the school or;
  • they are unqualified for the role they have applied for.

No recruitment decision will be made solely on the basis of an online search and all relevant information uncovered will be discussed with the applicant at interview.
